The Staff Advisory Council believes in creating opportunities for staff to socialize and have fun. The council also believes in promoting professional growth and during the Spring Semester we provide Workshops and Lunch & Learns.



Coping with Stress During COVID-19

As the COVID-19 coronavirus continues to spread, it’s normal to feel fear and uncertainty. People have a powerful need to understand and predict their environments in order to feel in control. This course included practical tips for coping with uncertainty and re-establishing control. Emergency Management & Disability Resource Center

On March 11, 2020 Assistant Director for Outreach and Education Beth Roland from Disability Resource Center spoke with faculty, staff and students about the different resources DRC provides. Also, our very own Dr. Lindsey spoke on Emergency Management. Key topics he spoke on were; How to make a plan, Every Disaster is local and It is not just hurricanes.

Business Entertainment

Staff Advisory Council scheduled a Lunch & Learn on September 23, 2019 for faculty and staff to discuss the new expenditure policy for business expenses related to hosted business meals, University functions, and entertainment, which updated the University Disbursements directives.  It was to provide guidelines to ensure the business purposes of entertainment, hospitality and recognition are reasonable, and to set clear limitations for expenses. 

DCP Crisis Communication & Care Service

The Staff Advisory Council held a spring workshop on March 28, 2019 and invited Tanja Philhower, Assistant Dean of Students. Assistant Dean Philhower spoke with Faculty and Staff and provided tools on how to communicate and provide support to someone in a crisis or distress, whether they are student or faculty/staff.

Your UF Employee Assistance Program offers someone to talk to and resources to consult whenever and wherever you need them. All UF faculty, staff, graduate assistants, non-student OPS employees, house staff/residents, and postdoc associates as well as their household members are eligible to receive services.
