DCP Hosting Options

Last Updated: October 4, 2023

The information below offers guidance in getting your website off the ground.

Note: All DCP Schools, Departments, and College-Wide Program websites must be managed and hosted under the DCP namespace: dcp.ufl.edu

Option #1 – DCP Hosted Website – Vega Framework

This option is entirely hosted and managed by the DCP web team. We furnish the necessary infrastructure and oversee its management. The departments that have initiated website requests bear the responsibility for creating and maintaining the website content. This includes imagery and text.

Within the context of the Vega framework, the DCP staff assumes responsibility for overseeing the header and footer content to maintain consistency throughout the entirety of the DCP web presence. Meanwhile, the department is responsible for managing all content within the area situated between the header and footer.

It’s important to note that all websites hosted by DCP are required to adhere to the DCP Vega Framework and comply with the guidelines outlined in the DCP web policy.

Option #2 – UF Hosted Website with a 4th level domain (Cost $200+ annually)

This option is hosted exclusively by UF’s web administration and is under the direct management of your team. UF provides server management services, while your team assumes responsibility for WordPress core updates, plugin management, and the selection of templates. The maintenance and oversight of website content fall within the purview of the departments that have requested the website.

Given that this choice is entirely overseen by UF and necessitates the use of your chosen template, please be aware that DCP Communications is unable to provide support for any potential issues that may arise during the utilization of these tools.

If you require a fourth-level domain (e.g., name.dcp.ufl.edu), you may request one from DCP IT Staff via the following link: https://my.dcp.ufl.edu/it-help-desk/.

Should you need a third-level domain name (e.g., name.ufl.edu), please note that such requests must first receive approval from the Dean or their designated representative, and subsequently be approved by UF Network Services. You can find detailed information regarding domain names in the DCP Web policy document: DCP Web Policy

All websites must follow DCP and the UF web policies: DCP Web Policy | UF Web Policies
