Chimay Anumba, dean of the University of Florida College of Design, Construction and Planning, has been honored with the 2018 Computing in Civil Engineering Award, presented by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
Dean Anumba will be presented with this award at an ASCE Conference in April. This prestigious honor is for his research in this field over many years.

Computing in Civil Engineering Award
The Computing in Civil Engineering Award recognizes outstanding achievement and contribution in the use of computers in the practice of civil engineering.
Chimay J. Anumba, Ph.D., P.E., F.ASCE is presented the 2018 Computing in Civil Engineering Award for extraordinary leadership in the advancement of computing in civil engineering through academic research, project application, and service to the Society.
Dr. Anumba has made extraordinary contributions to the advancement of computing in civil engineering through his research, publications, mentorship, and service to the profession. His main research contributions have been in the fields of knowledge based systems, agent-based systems, and integrated system design. His publication record is unparalleled with over 450 scientific publications including 17 books and over 183 journal papers. Dr. Anumba is one of the founding members of European Group for Intelligent Computing in Engineering (EG-ICE), and in this capacity has been a key player in nurturing the group’s relationship with ASCE’s Computing Division. Dr. Anumba’s other service activities include acting as an organizer for six ASCE computing workshops, specialty editor for the ASCE Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering, and reviewer for five ASCE journals. Dr. Anumba has also made an exceptional contribution to the development of the next generation of computing in Civil Engineering professionals. He has advised more than 47 PhD graduates most of whom have worked on computing topics, advised numerous MS students, and mentored over 23 postdoctoral scholars in addition to coaching young colleagues worldwide. Dr. Anumba is one of the world’s leading experts in developing artificially intelligent solutions to construction and civil engineering problems.
