Several BCN competition teams including, the UF Design-Build team, the UF LEED / Sustainable team and Heavy Construction team, all took home top awards at the 2012 Fall Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) regional competitions in Atlanta, GA.
Under the guidance of Dr. James Sullivan, assistant professor of building construction, and sponsor DPR Construction the UF LEED / Sustainable team took home first place and best presentation at the November 2012 ASC Regional LEED competition.
Dr. Edward Minchin, associate professor of building construction, and sponsor Jeff Nelson (BCN 1990), of Nelson Construction helped lead the Heavy Construction Competition team to first place in the Heavy Construction division in the ASC Competition. The team was provided the project information the morning of the competition, prepared an estimate and schedule by 7:00 p.m. and presented their project the following morning.
With the support of team sponsor, Haskell, the UF Design-Build team took second place in the Fall 2012 ASC Region II competition. Prior to the competition, the team was only given little information and needed to create a complete proposal including building design, schedule, estimate, project management plan and LEED scorecard.
