Nawari receives Fulbright Grant

32c43458-51c2-4954-9Dr. Nawari Nawari, SOA associate professor, has received a 2014-2015 Fulbright U.S. Scholar grant for teaching and research in Kuwait. Nawari will be conducting research and teaching in Kuwait for ten months during Fall 2014 and Spring 2015. The project has an 80% teaching part and a 20% research component.

Nawari will focus his teaching on introducing Building Information Modeling (BIM) beyond the traditional design studio courses to Kuwaiti students. Using BIM as a framework for teaching architectural structures, BIM tools will be implemented as the primary approach for advancing various types of structural knowledge while emphasizing interdisciplinary perspective. The research part of this Fulbright project will elaborate on analyzing, documenting and evaluating students’ progress in handling cross-disciplinary interests and the collaborative thinking through use of BIM knowledge and other digital tools as well as assessing depth and breadth in learning about fundamental of architectural structures and building information modeling.
