During this time of year, we believe it’s important to take the time to reflect on what we are thankful for and give back. Year round, the Shimberg Center for Housing Studies at UF gives back to the state of Florida through their data and research on affordable housing. Their research and data helps the public understand where those people in need, who are making minimum wage, working several jobs and spending a majority of their income on housing, are dispersed throughout Florida. This provides information to the government and non-profits that are involved in shaping housing policy throughout the state.
The Shimberg Center provides the backdrop of how the state is going to spend money on affordable housing and shows them where these housing opportunities are located. This gives those who are in need an opportunity to live in affordable housing without relocating and finding new jobs.
In this video, we take a closer look at the work the Shimberg Center is doing every day. The data and research they collect is helping provide affordable housing for those who serve us on a daily basis and who we should be thankful for.
